In 2018, I learned firsthand through my own germination (‘pregnancy’ as a term felt too gendered for me) journey the limited resources, knowledge, and experience in the birthing world regarding queer and trans family-building. I wanted spaces to build community with other queer family-builders! I wanted the books I read and podcasts that I listened to to mirror my experience and commitments as a queer-parent-to-be. I have been teaching perinatal yoga since 2021, and have worked with 90 families thus far. I have been teaching Queer & Trans Yoga for 19 years now, and teaching yoga generally for 25 years, and am excited about this new avenue for my work with queer communities.
I’m excited to offer ways to mitigate the discomforts of pregnancy, provide mental, emotional, and physical training for birth, and offer alternatives to common yoga postures that are safe and useful for pregnancy. I also call upon the philosophies of yoga to offer specific support to you and your family during pregnancy and leading up to birth.
Attendees of Prenatal Yoga will also be welcome to attend my Postnatal Yoga class to continue to build community with familiar folks, and provide a space where you can come with or without baby, while baby needs to feed or is napping, wearing baby or setting baby on the ground. Feel free to inquire if there is a current Postnatal Yoga offering through the contact form. 3
